Bob Carlos Clarke (1950-2006) was born in Cork, Ireland. He spent most of his life in England where he studied art and photography and completed a degree at the Royal College of Art (1975)
He was a prolific photographer and worked in almost all areas, winning numerous awards for his high-profile advertising campaigns, achieving recognition for his photojournalism and portraits of celebrities, and gaining international acclaim from collectors of fine prints.
He was "often referred to as the British Helmut Newton" and in his short life he had a strong impact upon and influenced the development of photography from the late 20th Century through to the present day. His works are now highly collectable and have been acquired by national art galleries including the National Portrait Gallery (UK) and the National Media Museum for the National Photography Collection (UK)
He authored and produced six books during his career.
