The House
Parnham Park is one of England's most storied manor houses — a Grade I listed Tudor mansion set within 139 acres of formal gardens, ancient woodland and parkland in the heart of Dorset. Originally built in the early sixteenth century and later extended by John Nash, it has been home to craftsmen, collectors and visionaries across five centuries.
After a devastating fire in 2017, Parnham has been painstakingly restored by James and Sophie Perkins — not merely to its former state, but to something altogether more considered. A house that holds its history lightly, and wears its future with confidence.

The Vision
The Vision
At the helm of Parnham's restoration are James and Sophie Perkins. With decades of experience in heritage conservation, James brings meticulous attention to architectural detail and craftsmanship — while Sophie's expertise in cultural programming ensures Parnham becomes a vibrant destination where people connect with nature, creativity and each other.
Their complementary vision is reshaping Parnham into a place of lasting cultural and ecological significance.

The Future
The Restoration
Working with Thomas Heatherwick and Historic England, James Perkins is restoring Parnham's Grade I listed shell — inserting a bold new volume of mirror glass where the great hall once stood. The ruin is honoured. Something entirely new emerges from within it.
Planning consent has been granted. The work is underway.

II
Dramatic A-frame structures along the River Brit — designed to disappear into the landscape, with the water and woodland as their only neighbours.
In DevelopmentThe Grounds
The reinstated Elizabethan gardens — topiary walks, a lake, and the restored boathouse — returning Parnham's grounds to their original grandeur. Designed in partnership with leading landscape architects, the gardens will once again form a coherent whole with the house.
The grand gateway between the Dower Houses reinstates Parnham's original 16th-century main entrance, leading onto the Elizabethan yew- and beech-lined carriageway — once the principal route to the house.
